Artistic Jumpstart: Painting, Drawing, Sculpture & Photography

A fine art exploration for those looking to engage with a variety of art mediums. Each week, students will create artworks using different techniques, materials, and concepts within the major disciplines of the fine arts, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media.  This course is suitable for people who are new to artmaking, returning after a break, or seeking to expand their repertoire. 

Syllabus

  • Introduction to art materials and techniques 
  • Introduction to drawing: charcoal and pencil
  • Introduction to drawing: chalk pastel
  • Introduction to drawing: oil pastel
  • Introduction to sculpture: clay figurine
  • Introduction to photography: lighting and composition
  • Introduction to painting: watercolour
  • Introduction to painting: acrylic portrait 
  • Introduction to painting: acrylic abstract 
  • Introduction mixed media: collage  

 

Supplies

  • Mobile device (cell phone or tablet) with integrated camera or digital camera (DSL, mirorless, compact, etc)
  • All tools and consumable materials for use in studio are included

Optional:

  • Nitrile gloves 
  • Apron or workshirt to protect clothes
