François Chateigner joined our teaching corps in the fall of 1998. François teaches all levels of French and all of our German classes. He is much appreciated for his knowledge of both French and German grammar and vocabulary. His students enjoy the positive and non-threatening learning environment he so aptly creates. Also an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, François enjoys fly fishing, canoeing, cycling, tenting and cross-country trekking. François is a chess amateur who has not quite reached the “master” status, but he has mastered the construction of beautiful chessboards.
François on teaching: My German-speaking mother and French-speaking Father were my language models growing up in France. My interest in language is both practical and poetic and I endeavour to bring my students to appreciate the beauty of the language they are learning while teaching them the practical skills they will need.
From a student: I am thoroughly enjoying my German language class. It is very interactive, and François is patient and encouraging, which makes learning a second language a lot of fun!
