Craig Berry Drawing and Oil Painting

Craig is a classically trained artist in figurative work and colour theory. He believes knowledge is an asset for any student in learning to solve drawing or painting problems and focusses on teaching students the fundamentals within the visual language.

Craig Berry holds a BFA in Drawing from the Alberta College of Art in Calgary. After 20+ years as a graphic designer, he furthered his art studies in 2006 at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto studying classical realism. He completed an advanced colour theory workshop with master painter Graydon Parrish at the Grand Central Academy of Art in 2008. In 2008, Craig studied privately for 2 years with contemporary figurative artist Scott Owles.

Craig on teaching: My goal is to teach the practical side of painting and drawing. When a student focuses on skill based training they gain the confidence to create the image in their mind onto paper or canvas.

"For how can [the artist] who does not know how to draw accurately the cold commonplace view of an object, hope to give expression to the subtle difference presented by the same thing seen under the excitement of strong feeling” – Harold Speed
