About this event
Dee Daniels is a jazz vocalist with a unique sound, steeped in the art of storytelling through song. Performing a mix of standards, blues, gospel, and original compositions, all with interesting and unique arrangements, she transcends musical borders when she brings her jazz styling, infused with gospel and blues flavoring to the stage.
To ANSWER THE CALL OF SPIRIT is to follow one's passion by activating qualities such as courage, energy, determination, wisdom, and love. Dee will share stories of unique experiences that have shaped her life because she chose to answer her spirit's call. These journeys have provided her with amazing experiences that have influenced her life within and outside of music from physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual points of view.
The Gail Appel Lecture Series in Literature and Fine Arts was established in 2002 to highlight literature and the fine arts on campus and expose USask students, faculty and the broader community to some of the world’s most distinguished and influential artists. This lecture series is made possible thanks to a generous donation by Gail Appel (BA’66) and her husband, Mark.
Previous speakers have included Buffy Sainte Marie, Alan Lightman, Sir Ken Robinson, Jim Cuddy, Tanya Tagaq and Adam Beach.
