Workshops

During the program, there are scheduled French Immersion workshops for students. These are compulsory for all students. Every student must be registered for 5 workshops. Please note that these workshops group students according to interest and not according to their level of French proficiency. Bring your speaking and listening French language skills, and enthusiam for the subject!

Please read through the description of the workshops. This will help you decide before you go online to register. We do our best to offer enough spots, but it is first come, first serve. (In the past, students have always obtained their first, second and/or third choice.)

Les Souvenirs en argile - polymère

In this workshop, students will use polymer clay to create their own special souvenirs of all things from Le Petit Prince. Helena will focus on roses, but students will also be encouraged to create miniature representations of their favorite character: le petit prince, le renard, la planète, le mouton, to name a few. This workshop is suitable for those of all levels of experience in art and is offered to help students reuse the vocabulary in their reading of Le Petit Prince and to make memorable souvenirs that they can take home with them.

L'Aquarelle, l'alcool à friction, le sel et les crayons

This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience in art or “chemistry” and is offered to help students reuse the vocabulary in their reading of Le Petit Prince. Helena invites all students to take home all of their paintings.

À la découverte artistique des exoplanètes

Avec Erica Bird

Exoplanets are planets orbiting stars outside our solar system. There are now more than 5,000 known and confirmed exoplanets. And we keep finding more all the time. In this art workshop, we’ll create and illustrate exoplanets using chalk, pastel chalk and collage techniques. What color is the sky? Does it rain? Are there oceans, mountains, moons? How long is a day? Is there life on your planet? This workshop is suitable for those of all levels of experience in art and is offered to help students appreciate their tour of the Observatory and the reading of Le Petit Prince.

Erica is the manager of the USask Museum of Natural Sciences and loves to share the history of Earth and the evolution of life on it with visitors, through the dinosaur skeleton replicas, fossils, live animals and plants, rocks, and minerals. She has a PhD and MSc in physics, a BSc in physics and astronomy, and is fascinated by the natural world and our incredible universe.

Hockey, badminton, ballon volant, foot, frisbee ultime, et ballon panier
