2023 Community Arts and Artisanship Certificate Graduate
I spend hours every week in the water swimming in pools, lakes, and oceans. When I cannot be in water I am around water or on water. It’s all about water and the woods. I have spent time every summer of my life at Emma Lake; this is where I feel most alive, at peace and home. This is why I strive to replicate these elements of nature in my paintings.
This group of paintings illustrates my journey through the art certificate program. One of my first paintings titled “On the Beach at Kenderdine” was created in 2011 at the Kenderdine Campus Emma Lake, SK. My most recent painting, “Waskesiu River”, brought me back full circle, back to Lakeland and watercolour. Through the years in between, I explored acrylic painting and pouring.
Creating art has provided me with the opportunity to view the world through a different lens. I see nuances in nature and that is the gift I have been given through this creative journey.
