Summertime

Slate (relief carving)
42" x 13”

I developed this carving from a picture of my daughter taken one summer when we drove south to escape forest fire smoke and spent a day near Tugaske, exploring trails bordered by thistles towering over both of our heads. The stone is a broken stair tread, “debris”, and was very fun to upcycle with a hammer, chisel, and carving techniques I’ve picked up in Robert Assié’s Community Arts classes.
