Glorious Petunias

In Robin Adair’s class he wanted us to try an “abstraction” of a familiar object. I love abstracts but have little knowledge of the process. This piece was part of a journey to explore the internal reality of the flower using shape, form, colour & texture. It was so freeing to take the “run of the mill” petunia and turn it into something wild and carefree. I hope I have captured this feeling in the painting.
