I am currently working on my portfolio to apply to the Master of Architecture program in Calgary. I wanted to learn a medium that would stand out amongst the other portfolios and that would allow me to learn more about the 3D and built environment. I started taking stone carving classes and have continued to carve last summer. I enjoy the meditative process of carving and was astounded at how much you can carve with only a hammer and a small chisel.
