Ages 9-10: Drawing, Painting and Mixed Media Exploration

In this class, children will be offered many opportunities to explore their creativity and learn and develop new skills in the visual arts in a fun and supportive environment. Through a wide variety of media and tools, students will gain knowledge and skills in a way that engages, challenges, and inspires them. Topics will include:
- Exploring our materials
- Drawing: pencil, ink, charcoal, pastel, marker
- Painting: acrylic, watercolour
- Mixed media: paper, fabric, found objects, stamps, collage and montage
- Developing our composition
- Line, shape, value, and negative space
- Colour, form, space, and texture
- Subject matter, arrangement and intention
- Planning and presentation
Please note that the instructor may repeat some art processes from term to term, but with different projects.
