Beamteam member Robert Green shines in California

Robert Green, a PhD student in the Department of Physics & Engineering Physics and a member of Prof. Alex Moewes beam team, won the prestigious student poster competition at the 2010 Advanced Light Source Users’ Meeting (Oct. 13–15, 2010) at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, CA. Green’s poster was entitled "Configuration of Dopant Sites in Spintronics Materials," and focused on his spectroscopic studies of new magnetic semiconductors useful for spintronics applications. Green holds a 3-year NSERC doctoral scholarship.

Over 400 scientists attended the meeting and 74 posters were presented, of which 24 entered the student competition. Robert received a cash prize and the opportunity to present a talk at the meeting. Meeting chair David Osborn said, “(You) should be justly proud of the job Robert did in representing his research group, the University of Saskatchewan, and himself.”
