About this event

The Diefenbaker Canada Centre, Museum of Antiquities, and Museum of Natural Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan are teaming up to present a family-friendly day of historical exploration through art! Each location will have something special and unique to offer for you and your family to learn and create:

From 12–3 pm, join sculptor and art instructor Adrian Golban at the Museum of Natural Sciences to create your own 3D dinosaur or other prehistoric animal. We’ll be designing, drawing, and sculpting with wire and plasticine, and learning some paleontology and anatomy along the way!

From 1–4 pm at the Diefenbaker Canada Centre, use Métis artist Leah Marie Dorion's artwork in the "Opikinawasowin: Growing Métis Children" exhibit for inspiration as you paint and create your own story following the themes of family, friendship, and gathering. All supplies will be provided.

And from 2–4 pm, stop by the Museum of Antiquities to learn all about ancient Roman frescoes, including how they were made, preserved, and discovered in the city of Pompeii. We will provide you with the supplies and instructions to make your own Roman fresco!
