Assistant Professor, Tenure-track in Women's and Gender Studies Program

The Women’s and Gender Studies Program and the Department of Political Studies at the University of Saskatchewan invite applications from qualified academics for two Tenure Track positions, starting July 1, 2025. The appointments will be at the rank of Assistant Professor.

We are seeking to recruit two collaborative-minded teacher-scholars who are building a reputation for excellence in the field of Women’s, Gender, and Sexualities Studies, and who can contribute to one or more of the following thematic areas:

1) Indigenous, critical race, and transnational feminisms; 2) politics, social justice movements, and human rights; 3) queer, crip, and sexualities studies; and, 4) visual culture and post-human digital studies.

Applicants must hold a PhD in the field (Women’s and Gender Studies; Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies; Gender, Sexualities, Race and Social Justice Studies, or related disciplines), with demonstrated excellence in teaching, research and community engagement. The positions will be housed in the Department of Political Studies.

Formally established in 1996, Women’s and Gender Studies has strong teaching and research links with several cognate units including: the School for the Arts, English, History, Indigenous Studies, Philosophy, Anthropology, Political Studies, Psychology and Sociology. In 2015, the graduate program (MA) in Women’s, Gender and Sexualities Studies was launched. Since 2020, WGST has been housed in the Department of Political Studies.

The College of Arts and Science offers a dynamic combination of programs in the humanities, fine arts, social sciences, and natural sciences. The College is home to more than 10,000 students and 300 faculty members, including 10 Canada Research Chairs. The College emphasizes student and faculty research, interdisciplinary programs, community-engaged research and knowledge mobilization, and international opportunities. Salary bands for this position for the 2025-2026 academic year are as follows:

Assistant Professor: $110,489 to $131,900; Associate Professor: $131,909 to $153, 329; and Professor $153,329 to $178,319.
