About this event
July 16, 1945, the date of the first detonation of a nuclear weapon, was proposed as the starting date of a new geological epoch called the Anthropocene. In 2024, the proposal was rejected by geologists.
The Department of History is pleased to announce the relaunch of the popular 7 Nights of History public history talks.
This year’s theme is 7 Days that Changed the World. Each talk will explore how one day’s events reflected earlier history and/or had an impact on subsequent history.
