Title:
Selenium-Centred Ligands and their d-Block Complexes
Abstract:
Selenium-containing compounds often exhibit unique bonding and reactivity compared those containing their lighter group 16 congeners oxygen and sulfur. Our group is exploring the chemistry of ligands with selenium donors. In this presentation, two such ligand platforms are explored – a pincer ligand with selenoether groups and bidentate ligands with selenourea groups. The synthesis and coordination of these ligands to d-block metals will be presented. The resulting complexes exhibit a variety of binding and aggregation modes. Crystallographic and spectroscopic data illustrating the versatility of these ligands will be highlighted.
