The Star Trek franchise has always engaged with political and cultural concerns, including collective fears of fascism, ideas about LGBTQA+ rights, and the rise and establishment of a hegemon. This talk examines how the franchise, ranging from the OS to Enterprise, uses the politics of its time to reinforce messages and themes that engage with the contemporary concerns of its fans.
