2017 Shine a Light Gala

Help to educate a girl growing up in a refugee camp

Event

2017 World University Service of Canada (WUSC) Shine a Light Gala

You see a girl. I see a future. Education changes the world. This gala will raise funds to help girls growing up in refugee camps to obtain an education. The first phase of the WUSC campaign focused on raising money for solar lamps to enable girls to study at night. They reached our goal of providing 1,000 girls with access to solar-powered lamps. The next $50,000 raised paid for remedial classes on evenings and weekends for girls to make up the schooling they missed during the day. The final $40,000 will provide scholarships for high schools outside of the refugee camp to promising young refugee girls.
