College of Arts and Science members win YWCA Women of Distinction Awards
Recipients were presented with awards at a ceremony on May 25
Congratulations to four College of Arts and Science members who were named winners of YWCA Women of Distinction Awards at a ceremony on May 25.
29 & Under Award Winner:
- Ishita Mann, College of Arts and Science student
Mann is currently the University of Saskatchewan Students' Union (USSU) president. Mann founded a youth-led nonprofit called YHYSaskatchewan (YHYSK), which aims to help students navigate their futures.
Arts, Culture & Heritage Award Winner:
- Heather Morrison (BFA’08)
Heather Morrison is a broadcaster and associate producer with CBC in Saskatoon. She is also a public speaking coach, as well as a freelance theatre artist.
Truth & Reconciliation Award Winner(s):
- Tracy Muggli (BA’86); as part of a team with Carm DiSanto-Michalenko (BComm’84)
Muggli is the executive director for St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon and co-chair of the Nutrien Saskatoon Community Foundation Cultural Gala committee.
Research & Technology Award Winner:
- Serese Selanders (BA’95, MBA’13)
Selanders is the founder and CEO of ORA and SolusGuard. ORA is a wearable alert device that saves lives. SolusGuard is a suite of workforce solutions designed to keep people who work alone, or in dangerous positions, safe.
Several graduates from the College of Arts and Science were nominated for the 2023 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards.
Since 1982, the awards have honoured hundreds of women for their inspirational leadership and extraordinary contributions. The awards are recognized nationally as one of the most prestigious awards for women.
