About this event
The University of Saskatchewan Jazz Ensemble has toured Western Canada, Northern USA, and Quebec, and has commissioned and premiered many new works. This ensemble has released six CDs in its “Bumper Crop” series and has performed in venues such as Edmonton’s acclaimed Winspear Centre. The ensemble has performed with many spectacular guest artists including (trombonists) Slide Hampton, Wycliffe Gordon, Hugh Fraser and Al Kay, (trumpeters) Jens Lindemann, Allen Vizzutti, and Brad Turner, (saxophonists) Campbell Ryga, Kelly Jefferson, and (piano) Jon Ballantyne and Murray Porter.
This concert will feature multiple Juno Award-nominated saxophonist Tara Davidson, acclaimed USask Jazz Ensemble alumnus trumpeter Adam Streisel, award-winning clarinetist Dr. Vanessa Klassen (DMA), and the Evan Hardy Collegiate Junior Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Stacey Mortenson-Spokes.
