USask researcher receives grant to investigate the impacts of public transit system disruptions

University of Saskatchewan (USask) researcher Dr. Ehab Diab (PhD) has received $30,000 in funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) to pursue an understanding of how disruptions stemming from innovation and upgrading of transit systems can affect ridership.
Diab is a faculty member in the Department of Geography and Planning in USask’s College of Arts and Science.
Exploring the changing needs and behaviours of transit users will help to facilitate the development of strategies for managing transitional periods while maintaining or increasing ridership.
Along with researchers from McGill University and the University of Alberta, the project aims to help transport authorities and cities in Canada to better anticipate and manage change to facilitate sustainable and secure development of transit systems.
