Title:
Biopolymer and Chemically Modified Biopolymer Flocculant Systems for Removal of Waterborne Phosphate Contaminants
Abstract:
improved efficiency of CF for removal of Pi and turbidity (Ti). Kinetics and thermodynamics of the CF process examined at variable time, concentration and temperature was conducted to elucidate the CF driving force. Also, colloidal properties of the flocs and the mechanism governing the CF process have been investigated herein. Modified bioflocculants markedly showed superior performance for the CF process, as evidenced by a reduced flocculant dosage and contact time, and elimination of inorganic coagulants across wide-ranging pH conditions. This study contributes to the field of biomaterials through development of sustainable CF systems for Ti and Pi removal with enhanced efficiency. The practical utility of CF is demonstrated to provide a pragmatic solution to address concerns related to global water security.
