College of Arts and Science alumni shortlisted for Saskatchewan Arts Awards
The names of the shortlisted nominees were announced during a news conference on Oct. 1 in Saskatoon
Several alumni from the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Arts and Science have been shortlisted for Saskatchewan Arts Awards.
Presented by the Saskatchewan Arts Board, the Saskatchewan Arts Awards celebrate the achievements of individuals, groups and organizations in all arts disciplines. Awards are given in six categories. Recipients also receive a cash prize and a limited edition award by a Saskatchewan artist.
The names of the shortlisted nominees were announced during a news conference on Oct. 1 at the Frank & Ellen Remai Arts Centre in Saskatoon.
The shortlisted nominees include the following College of Arts and Science alumni:
- RBC Emerging Artist Award Shortlisted Nominee: Julie Oh (BSc’07, BFA’09);
- Leadership – Individual Award Shortlisted Nominee: Joel Bernbaum and Heather Morrison (BFA’08); and
- Leadership – Individual Award Shortlisted Nominee: Kim Houghtaling (BFA’84).
Saskatoon-based artist and College of Arts and Science alumna Marie Lannoo (BA’77) created the new Saskatchewan Arts Awards sculpture, entitled North, South, West, East – Nothing, Something, Wavelengths, Everything. More of Lannoo's work can be viewed at the College Art Galleries on the USask campus, in a solo exhibition called the architecture of colour. The show runs until Dec. 21.
The 2019 Saskatchewan Arts Awards will be held on Nov. 4 at the Frank & Ellen Remai Arts Centre in Saskatoon.
