The Observatory's 90th anniversary event
The campus observatory opened at the University of Saskatchewan in April 1929
One of the most iconic facilities on the University of Saskatchewan (USask) campus is celebrating its 90th birthday.
The Observatory, which opened in April 1929, houses a three-metre-long refracting telescope. During the past nine decades, thousands of students, professors and members of the public have used that original telescope to view celestial objects in the sky, including planets, nebulae, star clusters, galaxies and even comets.
A public event will be held on the USask campus to celebrate The Observatory's anniversary. All are welcome!

The event will feature speakers discussing The Observatory’s history and the history of astronomy at USask. A walk to The Observatory and cake will follow.
