Constance Hunt, retired Court of Appeal judge, receives energy award
Award recognizes Justice Hunt's many contributions to energy-related areas of law
Retired Alberta Court of Appeal judge Constance Hunt (BA’70, LLB’72) recently received the 2017 Energy Regulatory Forum award, in recognition of her contributions to energy-related areas of law during her long career as a lawyer, law professor and judge.
Hunt was a professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary (1976–1991) and Dean of Law from 1989 to 1991. Her knowledge of natural resources, aboriginal and environmental law was critical in establishing the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law as a national and international leader in these fields. She was appointed to the Court of Queen's Bench in 1991 and and as Justice of the Alberta Court of Appeal in 1995. Hunt also served as Justice of the Northwest Territories Court of Appeal, the Nunavut Court of Appeal and the Nunavut Court of Justice. She received a Master of Law from Harvard University.
