Event

Subjectify Me Babe: Undoing Devalued Vulnerabilities in the Hookup

Women’s and Gender Studies Honours Colloquium with Dylan Lambi-Raine

When:  Wednesday, April 26th, 1:30 p.m.
Where:  ARTS 1008
Everyone welcome! Light refreshments will be served

Campus and youth dating scenes have evolved toward millennial “hookup-culture,” distinguished by the separation of sex from emotion in non-monogamous, short-term sexual encounters. Lambi-Raine argues that gender-based scripts based on entrenched neoliberal individualism infuse campus hookup culture with inequities that create precarious conditions, where people may share intimate connections without respectfully negotiating consent and/or use of contraception.
