Teaching & Supervision

electromagnetic methods geodesy geophysics gravity magnetics radiation methods thermal evolution

Most years I teach Geol. 485/487 (Geophysics field school), Geol 334 (Gravity, Magnetics, Electromagnetics and Radiation Methods) and Geol. 282 (Earth Physics).

I also teach graduate classes in geophysical modelling and in the past I have taught parts of Geol 108/121 (Earth and How it Works and Earth Processes).

Research

Applied Geophysics Compaction Geophysics Mantle Numerical modelling Porous Tektite

I work primarily on computer simulations of Earth processes. These processes include thermal convection in Earth’s mantle and Earth’s long term evolution, flows in compacting and reactive porous media and spinning liquid fluid drops as they pertain to tektite evolution. I am also interested in simulating processes using geometries from images including determining macroscopic rock properties from simulations (the field of digital rock properties) and I have carried out some studies related to applied geophysics methods.
