What is pi? Why is the pi for a circle the same as the pi for a sphere? What are some well-known ways to approximate pi? And what are some not-so-well-known ways of approximating pi? And what do these have to do with citrus, Basel, Good Will Hunting, Futurama, almond bread, and the Baltimore NFL team?
In this talk, we present some interesting answers to these questions. This is a non-technical talk suitable for a general audience; no knowledge of pi beyond three-point-something is assumed or required.
