About this event

Stories from Ilarion; stories of being Ukrainian

The Department of History’s Co-Lab for Community Engaged Research is working with Ilarion Residence Retirement Home in Saskatoon to document and celebrate the lived experiences of Ilarion’s Ukrainian residents. For the last two summers, three Co-Lab students have worked to record these oral histories. Over tea and cookies and lessons on proper perogie making, Ukrainian residents have shared stories about family, marriage, childhood, arrival in Canada, and traditions. The stories have been compiled into a documentary called Our History is Our Foundation: Honouring Ilarion Ukrainian Residents.
