About this concert
The University of Saskatchewan Jazz Ensemble has toured western Canada, northern U.S.A., and Quebec, and has commissioned and premiered many new works. This ensemble has released six CDs in its “Bumper Crop” series and has performed with many special guest artists including (trombonists) Slide Hampton, Wycliffe Gordon, Hugh Fraser and Al Kay, (trumpeters) Jens Lindemann, Allen Vizzutti, and Brad Turner, (saxophonists) Campbell Ryga, Kelly Jefferson, and (piano) Jon Ballantyne and Murray Porter. This concert will feature Canadian bari saxophonist Shirantha Beddage.
