Title: Exploring the Origins of Reactivity and Selectivity in Asymmetric Organocatalysis
The field of asymmetric organocatalysis has grown rapidly in the last decade and now provides access to an extensive catalog of previously unattainable transformations. However, the rush to exploit the potential of this field has left a void between innovation and understanding with many unexpected or contradictory findings going unexplained. The lack of information on the behavior of these reactions limits their potential for further development. Employing a combination of synthetic, theoretical, and analytical methods we explore and elucidate the mechanisms and selectivity patterns of organocatalytic reactions.
