Anthropomorphosis: Giving a Face to the Abstract in Art

An exhibition featuring the works of master stone carver Robert Assié alongside key sculptures and artifacts in the Museum of Antiquities collection.

Anthropomorphosis will explore the manner in which the abstract takes on human forms in art. Concepts of nature, virtues and the divine from the ancient world and the modern will cross paths to present a unique array of stunning and iconic images.

Robert Assié was born in 1976 near St. Brieux, Sask., and now lives in Saskatoon. Assié is an architectural stone mason and sculptor. His formal education in stone carving and sculpture began in Weymouth, England. He continued his studies and carving at L’abbey De St. Antione in France under Compagnons master Claude Chevènement. Assié presently has carving studios in Saskatoon as well as St. Brieux.
