Event

One-day 'pop-up' art exhibition
Date: Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019
TIme: 3 pm to 8 pm
Location: Pump House at River Landing

POP LUCK is a collective of 10 artists who meet regularly to talk, eat, drink, explore, intervene and exhibit new formulations of beauty. The works on display are a response to the location, created with non-traditional materials.

The artists are: USask alumna Elizabeth Babyn (MFA'17); USask alumna Terry Billings (MFA'91); Linda Duvall; USask alumna Joanne Lyons (BFA'95, MFA'08), Gordon Snelgrove Gallery director Marcus Miller; Mindy Yan Miller; John Penner; USask alumna Dawna Rose (MFA'91); Betsy Rosenwald and Prof. Susan Shantz, from the Department of Art and Art History in USask's College of Arts and Science.

All 10 visual artists are long-standing participants of Saskatoon’s art community with significant exhibition records. They began meeting about a year ago to explore alternative ways to share their artwork with the public. The artists have a common interest in non-traditional venues, raw or under-utilized spaces, public access and creating work and/or interventions in response to a specific location. The group’s success arises from the members' informal, free-ranging discussions about ideas and possibilities, and a shared respect for one another’s work.

The Pump House is located on the River Landing pathway west of Remai Modern, south of the farmers' market. Enter on the lower level. Everyone is welcome to attend.
