Timothy Kelly, an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and the Canada Research Chair in Photovoltaics, is the 2016 recipient of the University of Saskatchewan’s New Researcher Award.

With his research team, Kelly is working to significantly improve the efficiency of organic solar cells—photovaoltaics—that will result in technology that reduces manufacturing costs and provides safe, clean, renewable energy.

“The selection committee reviewed many nominations for nationally and internationally recognized scholars pursuing innovative research endeavours across campus,” said Vice-President Research Karen Chad, noting that Kelly’s exceptional publication and funding record, and his recent breakthrough publication in Nature Photonics set his nomination apart from the other nominees.
