Gordon Snelgrove Gallery July 17-28, 2017

Event

Wang Xinyuan’s collection of Chinese painting and calligraphy has been exhibited in Los Angeles, Japan, Hong Kong and Tianjin, China. Mr. Xinyuan received his bachelors’ degree in Philosophy at Nankai University and was among the first generation of graduates from Tianjin Maolin Calligraphy College. He is a member of the Tianjin Collector’s Association and an Honorary President of Tianjin Jiuhe Calligraphy and Painting Research Association. Huang Qi (descendant of one of the four masters of the Song Dynasty: calligrapher, Huang Tingjian, 1045–1105), and Professor He Jianguo (Tianjin Art College) both served as mentors to Mr. Xinyuan as he collected works by highly esteemed Chinese calligraphers including: Huang Qi, Liu Wenxi, Mi Nanyang, Wu Yuru, Li Henian and Liu Bingsen. Through this exhibition, Wang Xinyuan and the Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan hope to strengthen mutual understanding and the friendly interaction between people of the two countries, and to congratulate Canadians on their 150th  anniversary of confederation.
