About this event

Presented by SAWCI, the Ânskohk Indigenous Literature Festival kicks off at the Gordon Oakes Red Bear Student Centre with a moderated in-person panel, Bringing our Matriarch Stories Back. This panel will feature professor Dr. Cheryl Troupe (PhD'19) from the Department of History, professor Dr. Allyson Stevenson (PhD'15) and assistant professor Jade McDougall (PhD'23) from the Department of Indigenous Studies, moderated by Karon Shmon. 

Panelists will be invited to share their knowledge on Métis matriarchs and their importance to Métis culture. The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A period with the audience. 

The Ânskohk Indigenous Literature Festival was created to showcase the diversity of writing by Indigenous authors, to educate the general population about the richness of Indigenous literature, and to promote further understanding of Indigenous peoples. 

The festival will take place at the Alt Hotel, Broadway Theatre and online from Nov. 6-8. See the full schedule for more details.
