Pi Day 2025 Contest Results

News

Thank you to everyone who took part in the departmental Pi Day 2025 celebrations last Friday!

Established in 2019, the Pi Recitation Contest is a celebration of number, geometry, memory, precision, perseverance, and the unbounded potential of abstract reasoning and the human mind. It serves as an important reminder to the USask community that one can (and should!) take delight in mathematical pursuits.

44 students, faculty, and staff members representing six colleges participated in the 2025 Pi recitation contest. Here are the results:

1st Place: Parker Tait – 1603 digits (a new department record!)

2nd Place: Katie Timms – 261 digits

3rd Place: Alex Karlson – 201 digits

You can watch our 1st place winner's recitation here:

CONGRATULATIONS to all who participated, and we look forward to celebrating with you again on Friday March 13th, 2026 (Pi Day Eve, aka Pi Day the 13th).
