Applications are invited for a full-time, tenure-track position in Water Science at the rank of Assistant Professor with the Department of Geography and Planning in the College of Arts and Science, University of Saskatchewan, to begin July 1, 2025.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. at the time of appointment. The successful candidate is expected to establish an independent research program, contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, supervise undergraduate and graduate students and serve on student committees, and undertake relevant administrative activities, including meetings and committee work of the department, college and university.

The successful candidate’s research expertise can be in one of the following fields: field hydrology, numerical hydrological modeling, or a holistic understanding of regional earth system change. Courses the successful candidate will teach are in Hydrology, Environmental and Society programs.

The Department (https://artsandscience.usask.ca/geography/) actively engages in research and teaching activities that span the natural, social, and health sciences; all of the Department’s research and teaching activities align with the University’s signature areas (https://research.usask.ca/about/signature-areas-of- research.php). Water is one of the University’s signature research areas and the university is top ranked in Canada and in the top 20 in the world in water resources research. The Department is the home of the Centre for Hydrology (https://research-groups.usask.ca/hydrology/index.php), one of the most prestigious and productive hydrology research groups in the world, which provides leadership for and engages with the Global Institute of Water Security (https://water.usask.ca/), the Global Water Futures programme. The Department has strong collaborations with water research programs on campus, provincially, nationally, and globally, such as the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency, Environmental and Climate Change Canada’s National Hydrology Research Centre (NHRC; https://profils-profiles.science.gc.ca/en/research-centre/national-hydrology-research-centre-nhrc), UNESCO, WMO, etc.
