The Role of Central Banks
by Dr. Stephen Williamson, Professor and Stephen A. Jarislowsky Chair in Central Banking, Western University

Central Banks are powerful institutions in most countries. How did these institutions originate? How do they matter in modern economies? How is their role evolving? What is special about central banking, as practiced by the Bank of Canada? The talk will address these questions, and more.

The Timlin Lecture is a series established in 1983 in honour of Mabel Frances Timlin (1891–1976). More information: artsandscience.usask.ca/timlin
