Scholarships and Awards

The Department of Psychology offers one convocation award to the Most Outstanding Graduate in the Department and two specific book prizes for honours students. Students are also eligible for general College of Arts and Science scholarships and awards, and are encouraged to apply for external awards in addition to those provided by the university.  Interested students can apply through the University of Saskatchewan Scholarships, Bursaries, and Awards page

 

The Gordon A. McMurray Prize

The Gordon A. McMurray Prize is awarded annually to a student completing the B.A. Honours degree in Psychology.  Selection is based on outstanding academic achievement.  The recipient will also have shown promise of becoming a contributor to the research or practice of Psychology.  This prize is named in honour of Gordon A. McMurray, the first Head of the Psychology Department in 1950 and is valued at $250.  Dr. McMurray remained as Head of the Department of Psychology from 1950-1975.  No application is required.  The recipient of this prize is selected by the department.

Psychology Honours Book Prize

The Psychology Honours Book Prize is awarded annually to the student with the top grade in the Psychology Honours course. The department established this prize in 2023 in memory of Professor Jamie Campbell who coordinated the honours course for many years. The $200 book prize is credited to the recipient as a USask Bookstore gift card. No application is required. The recipient of this prize is selected by the Department.

Health Studies Honours Book Prize

The Health Studies Honours Book Prize, established in 2023, is awarded annually to the student with the top grade in the Health Studies Honours course. The $200 book prize is credited to the recipient as a USask Bookstore gift card. No application is required. The recipient of this prize is selected by the Department.
