Erika Dyck's Canada Research Chair renewed

Erika DyckThe Canadian government announced today that associate professor in History Erika Dyck’s Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in History of Medicine has been renewed.

The renewal brings with it another $500,000 in funding to support Dyck’s research into differing attitudes towards mental health care in Canadian provinces throughout the 20th century.

The Canada Research Chair in History of Medicine was created in 2008 to support Dyck’s research activities at the U of S. The chairholder has an accomplished research background in the history of such areas as psychiatry, mental health, deinstitutionalization and eugenics.

Tier 2 Canada Research Chairs are granted to exceptional emerging researchers believed to have the potential to be leaders in their field. The chairs are held for five years and renewable once.

Erika Dyck is Saskatchewan’s only Canada Research Chair recipient in the Spring 2014 funding announcement.
