Dept of Music is Host to Unifest

The University of Saskatchewan's Department of Music is again hosting Unifest, a festival of concert bands, choirs and jazz bands. More than 2,000 musicians, mostly age 12 to 18, gather on the U of S campus to perform for Canadian and International adjudicators. You are all welcome to attend concerts presented by the Department of Music's student ensembles, which are listed below.

The U of S Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dean McNeill, will perform two concerts with guest artist, trumpeter/composer Paul Tynan, faculty member of St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, N.S.

· Time: Thursday, November 13, 6:30 and 8 p.m.
· Place: Quance Theatre, Education Building, U of S
· Tickets: $5 at the door, or email unifest.info@usask.ca to reserve

The U of S Greystone Singers, under the direction of Gerald Langner, and the U of S Wind Orchestra, under the direction of Glen Gillis. Soloist with the Wind Orchestra will be Kathleen McLean, bassoonist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and faculty member of the University of Toronto.

· Time: Friday, November 14, two concerts: 6:30 and 8 p.m.
· Place: Quance Theatre, Education Building, U of S campus
· Tickets: $5 at the door, or email unifest.info@usask.ca to reserve

The U of S Department of Music Small Ensembles Concert will feature students from the department's various small ensembles performing a variety of musical styles.

· Time: Saturday, November 15, 12:20 p.m.
· Place: Convocation Hall, College Building, U of S main campus
· Tickets: There is no admission charge for this rush seating event
