The Academic Affairs Committee establishes rules and methods for the admission, progression, and graduation of undergraduate students of the College. Further, the Committee engages in the resolution of matters concerning academic dishonesty and misconduct.

This committee is responsible for reviewing all program and course proposals submitted to the Arts & Science College Challenge pertaining to Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Music, and related Certificate and Minor programs, as well as proposals for courses which have the Fine Arts, Humanities, and/or Social Sciences attribute. Proposals may be approved by the committee, or are reviewed and recommended to the next appropriate stage in the approval process.

This committee has the authority and responsibility for all proposals pertaining to Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) programs, and for all proposals pertaining to courses that both carry the science (SCIE) attribute and for which the department with jurisdiction over the course is one of Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology; Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology; Department of Medicine – Dean’s Office.

The Bylaws Committee develops, reviews and proposes amendments to the College of Arts & Science’s Faculty Council Bylaws and Faculty Council policies.

The Committee of Department Heads (CDH) discusses departmental matters related to scholarship and discipline, teaching and programming, space and infrastructure, budgets and other administrative issues. The CDH reports to and advise Faculty Council on these matter. The CDH mentors and supports new Department Heads.

• Terms of Reference

The Indigenous Course Committee (ICC) is a committee comprised of faculty, University staff, students, and Indigenous community partners. The purpose of the ICC is to review, request revisions, and designate courses to be added to the Indigenous Learning Requirement (ILR) list for the College of Arts & Science as well as review and update as necessary the procedure to designate courses for inclusion in the ILR. The ICC also reviews requests for transfer credit of courses taken at other institutions to meet the ILR. They consult with Department Heads regarding instructors for ILR courses, provide support to the departments and faculty to encourage them to create ILR courses.

The Nominations Committee nominates candidates for election as members of the standing committees of the Faculty Council; as term-limited voting members of Faculty Council; as members or chairs of special committees of the Faculty Council; or as members of any other committee or body that requires representation from the Faculty Council.
