Title: Aminosugar and aminosugar analogue synthesis by bacteria and by graduate students
Kanosamine is an antibiotic and antifungal compound and a component and precursor of more complex antibiotics. Fighting infections is an important component of giving a seminar with 48 hours’ notice. The discovery of a novel pathway for the biosynthesis of kanosamine is described, along with the chemical synthesis and kinetic analyses carried out to help understand each enzymatic step.
