Programmed cell death: lessons learned from lace plant

Biology Seminar

Friday, Sep. 26, 2014 at 3:30 pm

Room 125 – Biology Building

Dr. Arunika Gunawardena, Professor of Biology at Dalhousie University, will present this public lecture and discuss the mechanisms of Programmed Cell Death (PCD) in animals and plants. Understanding how to manipulate PCD in plants has the potential to reach beyond agricultural applications and may provide new approaches for studying human diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s.

Dr. Gunawardena’s visit is partially funded by the President’s Diversity Enhancement Fund and the Office of the Dean of Arts and Science through the Role Model Speaker Fund.
