Frequently Asked Questions

Our classes are open to everyone 16 years or older. Affiliation to the University of Saskatchewan is not necessary nor required. We also host Explore French Immersion Programs annually.

Register for level 1 if you have no prior education or experience in a language. For all other levels, the prerequisite is either successful completion of the previous level, or a Speaking Assessment. Speaking Assessments are free for everyone, and may be completed in a few minutes over the phone. Please contact Gisèle Piché at 306-966-4355 for an assessment.

You will need to create an account in the new system in order to register for a class. To create this account, go to Extended Learning, and choose How to Register

  • If you already have a USask NSID, click on “I have an account already” and follow the steps.
  • If you do not have a USask NSID, click on “I am a new user”. Use the email option and not the phone option to verify your identity and please also be aware that if you are registering for different people on the same computer, you will need to log out completely, and may also need to clear your browser history, before you log into a different account.

Help is available! If you have trouble, please call USask IT Support Services at: 306-966-2222. Leave a message with your contact information, and specifically ask that they call you back. IT Support can get your NSID issues solved.

Students can register up to the second class when spaces are available.

No. We reserve the right to cancel classes when there is insufficient enrolment, and decisions are made the week before classes starts. In these cases, a full refund will be issued.

Withdrawing from a class prior to the day of the first class will result in a refund minus a $75 administration fee. There are no refunds issued after the class start date. We are unable to do transfers from one term to another term.

Classes take place in the Williams Building at 221 Cumberland Ave North and the room is listed on the class pages. Washrooms are located on the second floor and third floors. There is an elevator at the south end of the building.

 

Public parking is available in Lot 4651 directly behind and adjacent to the Williams Building. Payment options are:

  • Canadian coins at the meters
  • PayByPhone (parking app)
  • Free on Sundays

There is also limited-time parking on nearby streets, please check the signs for information.

Permit parking passes are available in the evening and on the weekend for the W Lot plug-in spots between the Williams Building and the graduate student residences. More information and purchase options can be found at Parking and Transportation Services.

The plug-in spots are for parking pass holders only and you will be ticketed if you park there without one.

 

Zoom links are sent out one day prior to class start date. Classes are not recorded and personal recording of classes is not encouraged nor allowed.

 

We provide access to PDFs of textbooks after registration. Students may prefer to purchase their own textbooks and workbooks: 

University of Saskatchewan employees may allocate professional development funds for multilingual course fees and textbooks. Information and guidelines are available in PAWS. If using a CFOAPAL account, it must be for the entire amount and can only be done as an over-the-phone registration. Please call 306-966-4355 or 306-966-5539 when using a CFOAPAL number. As well, all CFOAPAL number usage must be authorized via email.
