Our classes are open to everyone 16 years or older. Affiliation to the University of Saskatchewan is not necessary nor required. We also host Explore French Immersion Programs annually.
If you have successfully completed the previous level in a language stream, then register for the next level. If you have not taken classes in that language with us before, but have taken classes elsewhere, or have experience speaking the language, call us for a free speaking assessment to ensure you are enrolled in the right level.
A speaking assessment is a brief phone interview with one of our language experts who will converse with you in the language you wish to be assessed for. The language expert will make a recommendation for a class based on your current skill level in the language you wish to study.
To schedule a speaking assessment, call Gisèle Piché at 306-966-4355, or Jeffrey Klassen at 306-966-5530.
If preferred, you may email conversational.languages@usask.ca
In your email, indicate the language you wish to study, your name and contact information (a phone number is preferred), and a brief explanation of your previous experience with that language.
You will need a USask NSID account to register for classes.
To create this account, you will start at the Extended Learning website
Choose “Create New Profile”.
Use the email option and not the phone option to verify your identity.
IT Support can get your NSID issues solved. If you have trouble, please call
USask IT Support Services at 306-966-2222
Leave a message with your contact information, and specifically ask that they call you back.
If IT Support Services do not resolve your issue, please let us know.

No. We reserve the right to cancel classes when there is insufficient enrolment, and decisions are made the week before classes starts. In these cases, a full refund will be issued.
A $75.00 withdrawal fee is charged for withdrawing from a course up to 2 weeks prior to the course start date. No course refund is processed after this time. Non-attendance does not constitute notice of withdrawal. We are unable to do transfers from one term to another term.
Classes take place in the Williams Building at 221 Cumberland Ave North and the room is listed on the class pages. Washrooms are located on the second floor and third floors. There is an elevator at the south end of the building.

Permit parking passes are available in the evening and on the weekend for the W Lot plug-in spots between the Williams Building and the graduate student residences. More information and purchase options can be found at Parking and Transportation Services.
The plug-in spots are for parking pass holders only and you will be ticketed if you park there without one.
Zoom links are sent out one day prior to class start date. Classes are not recorded and personal recording of classes is not encouraged nor allowed.
We provide access to PDFs of textbooks after registration. Students may prefer to purchase their own textbooks and workbooks.
University of Saskatchewan employees may allocate professional development funds for multilingual course fees and textbooks. Information and guidelines are available in PAWS.
