The Department of Art and Art History offers undergraduate degree programs in Studio and Art History as well as an MFA graduate program (the terminal degree in studio) and special case MA studies in Art History. The Department's undergraduate programs in Studio and Art History are interdisciplinary and interdependent, requiring students to take a number of core classes in each discipline. The Department also offers Art Education classes in the College of Education towards the B.ED and BA degrees.

The Department has developed its undergraduate and graduate programs in response to the needs of a diverse student body interested in pursuing a wide range of public and private employment opportunities as professional artists, educators, curators, arts and media administrators, architects, graphic communication designers, and conservators, among other careers.
