Eligibility: Open to continuing undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Science who have declared a major in Regional and Urban Planning.

Geography and Planning

"To recognize the academic achievement of students pursuing a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree with a specialization in physical geography."

Selection Criteria: Academic achievement as determined by the award committee.

Eligibility: Students entering their final year of a BSc Honours degree in EES or Hydrology (if neither possible, an ENSO student).

Preference to students minoring in Water Science, or who have taken the following classes:
GEOG 233 (Weather and Climate), GEOG 333 (Global Climate Change), GEOG 390 (Hydrometerology) GEOL 330 (Climate History).

Award Value: Based on financial resources available (min. $500).

Geography and Planning

"To provide financial assistance and to recognize academic achievement and service to the environment by UG students pursuing studies in the areas of environment studies or geography who are members of the Environmental Studies Student Association."

Selection Criteria: Academic achievement, financial need, and demonstrated service to the environment.

Eligibility: Open to Environmental Biology, Environment and Society, Environmental Earth Sciences, Hydrology, and Geography majors who have completed at least two years of study in an undergraduate degree program and who are members of the Environmental Studies Student Association (ESSA).

Spring

Regional and Urban Planning

Selection Criteria: Based on the merits of a planning in northern Canada paper, academic achievement, and demonstrated involvement in community activities, as determined by the award committee.

Eligibility: Third and fourth year undergraduate students* in the Regional and Urban Planning program in the College of A&S who have completed a paper on the topic of planning in northern Canada (north of the 53rd parallel).

*students who entered 3rd or 4th year in the fall of the academic year being awarded. (as per Student Awards, SESD 2018).

Award Value: Value and number of awards based on financial resources available.

Regional and Urban Planning

Selection Criteria: Based on the merits of the project/paper. Applications may come from individual or group projects. As determined by the Award Committee.

Eligibility: Open to full-time students enrolled in the Regional and Urban Planning Program in the Department of Geography and Planning who have completed an individual or group urban planning project or research paper. The project or paper must clearly identify a research/design problem, and have the potential to contribute to contemporary issues in urban, regional, or community planning in Canada.
