NSID, PAWS, EMAIL, and CANVAS

NSID

You will have received an NSID (Network Services ID) and temporary password upon application. These allow you to log into PAWS and to register for courses. The NSID consists of three letters followed by three digits. (Your NSID is not a secret; your password is.)

If you forget your NSID or password, you can:

  • Contact IT Support at itsupport@usask.ca and by phone at 306-966-2222 or 1-800-966-4817 (toll free in Canada).

EMAIL

Your University of Saskatchewan e-mail account is automatically created when you are admitted to a program. It will be based on your NSID (i.e. NSID@mail.usask.ca). This is the account to which the department and university will send information regarding registration, funding, employment, campus activities etc.

Check your e-mail regularly by logging into PAWS.

  • For questions or problems, contact the IT Support help desk or phone 306-966-2222.

PAWS

PAWS (your Personalized Access to Web Services at the University of Saskatchewan) is a web environment and communication hub used by all students, faculty, staff, and alumni. PAWS is where you can register for classes, access your degree progress, manage tuition and fees, find information on scholarships and bursaries, order textbooks, see campus announcements, and more. An NSID and password are required to access your PAWS account.

CANVAS

Each course has a Canvas site, which can be accessed through the main menu on your PAWS account. Canvas is the Learning Management System at the University of Saskatchewan and is used by instructors to provide information such as the syllabus, readings, schedules, and other course-related materials and resources.
