Greystone Theatre Presents: The Backstage Pass Series

The Greystone Theatre season is here, with our first production The Margin of the Sky by Stewart Lemoine, running from October 12-22nd.

Somehow, simply putting on play didn’t strike us as festive enough for our return to the theatre this year, and so we are inviting audiences to a series of stimulating post-show events curated to entice, intrigue and illuminate!

Admission to each event is included with your ticket to the show for that evening. To purchase tickets please visit https://usaskartsandscience.universitytickets.com/w/default.aspx

Wednesday, October 12th: Post-show Opening Reception

Help celebrate opening night with this post-show reception in the lobby of the Emrys Jones Theatre.

Thursday October 13th: Cast Talkback

Join members of the cast of The Margin of the Sky for post-show Q&A about the play and creative process. Featuring members of The Brausen cast. Why “Brausen”? To know that, you’ll have to see the show…

Saturday October 15th: Questions and Answers with Playwright Stewart Lemoine

The playwright is coming! The playwright is coming! To celebrate a visit with our special guest, we are pleased to offer cash bar service in the lobby before the show. After you enjoy the evening’s performance, sit back with a drink and some light appetizers while we talk about The Margin of the Sky, creating theatre, and the process of playwrighting. Please note there is no ATM in the John Mitchell building, so arrive with cash in hand if you wish to partake before the curtain goes up. Alumni are offered discounted admission to the evening with the coupon code Alumni22 available for use at checkout.

Wednesday October 19th: Cast Talkback

Join members of the cast of The Margin of the Sky for post-show Q&A about the play and creative process. Featuring members of The Derkach cast. What’s a “Derkach”? Come to the show to find out!

Thursday October 20th: “Schoenberg at the Margin” with Greg Marion

While Schoenberg is often considered one of the founders of musical serialism, this fact frequently overshadows other aspects of Schoenberg’s compositional — and indeed, his personal — life. Grab a snack and join Greg Marion for a post-show talk wherein he will address the matter with particular reference to curious connections between a particular work of his (Gurrelieder) and the Stewart Lemoine’s The Margin of the Sky.

About Greg Marion

Gregory Marion is a member of the Department of Music at the University of Saskatchewan, where he has served as Head of the Department of Music and Acting Head of the Department of Drama. He earned degrees in Music Theory from the University of Michigan (PhD), and the University of Alberta (MMus), and in Theory and Composition from Western. Marion’s areas of expertise include European music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and especially the music of Debussy, with a secondary interest in the music of Schubert. Of late, Marion’s research has branched out to include Duke Ellington, Gustav Mahler and Canadian composer Murray Adaskin. He has published articles, and has presented at conferences in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia.
