About the Building
Built in 1912 by designer Walter W. LaChance who also designed Victoria School, City Hospital, and the Senator Hotel, this building housed our first Public Library. The intricately ornamented pale beige material covering most of the facade of this building is not stone, but terra cotta which is moulded fired clay. The stairs and the window trim are made of Tyndall Stone. The stairs are rich in fossils!
